Stephanie (re)joins the workforce

The mountains on my way to my first day of work! Unfortunately, the air quality hasn't been the best around here lately, but the day was beautiful anyway.

I have just about finished my second week of work!

I work in the administration building on campus, doing processing and imaging for admissions. Basically, I go through a lot of paperwork and organize and scan it and make sure it gets into our system. It doesn't sound super thrilling, but I like it a lot!

I like it even more when I think about how I was unemployed all summer. I remember being so frustrated as I went to several interviews a week just to be rejected again and again. It was tiring and disheartening.

However, now I have a great job that I enjoy, and where I can take pride in my what I do. It works perfectly with my school schedule, and I have some awesome coworkers. Despite all the frustration of the past few months, now I'm feeling pretty happy and extremely blessed!

This is my rubber finger tip! I get to use this contraption when I flip through giant stacks of paper. It makes it easier for me to grip pages and it is extremely useful. I added the smiley face myself.

Also, there's this old school water fountain right outside my office! I mean, maybe it isn't that old school, but I've never seen one where you have to twist a knob to get your water!

No-bake brownie bites

It's no secret that I love desserts. I mean, who doesn't?? They're fun, delicious, and the perfect way to end a meal (or start a meal, or take a break in-between your meal...). Anyway, as much as I love baking, sometimes I just don't want to go through all the waiting-- preheat the oven, grease up the pans, make sure everything's done all the way through, clean up all the mess you've made....

Well, this week we have to do some deep-cleaning for our final cleaning checks before fall semester starts. One of my lovely roommates cleaned the oven so beautifully I couldn't bring myself to do anything that may ruin it when the urge to bake struck.

Thankfully, I had this awesome recipe on standby for such an occasion! It's simple, easy to clean up, and downright decadent. It only has a few ingredients, which include: chocolate, more chocolate, and butter; so, it has to be good, right?!

I consider myself a chocolate aficionado. A fanatic, if you will. And let me tell you, after one or two of these, I was almost chocolated out for the day. It was awesome.

Soooo, let's just get this out of the way now; there is quite a bit of butter in the recipe...That's probably why it's so delicious. I melted a stick and a half of butter in the microwave and it smelled super good....

...But then I added the box of brownie mix and it smelled even better!! At this point I was tempted to just start eating it straight out of the bowl. But I pressed on.

The recipe says you can also roll the dough in chocolate pudding mix for an extra chocolate kick, and I thought I might as well....But then I didn't add as many chocolate chips as the recipe calls for, because I just had to draw the line somewhere.

And here's the finished product!! I have no idea how I'm going to finish all of them because they're so rich. But definitely worth it-- they're an easy way to satisfy any chocolate fix. :)

New adventures!

Hey there!!

I decided to start writing a blog mostly to keep my friends and family updated on my day-to-day life, and also kind of to see how long I could keep one. This should be fun!

My summer has not been super eventful. I moved back to Provo in the middle of June, hoping to secure a job soon after my arrival. For whatever reason, the job I had hoped to get fell through, and I have been job hunting ever since! I've had interview after interview, and rejection after rejection. and it has not been fun. I expressed my frustration to a friend a few weeks ago, who told me to think of it as "getting halfway to a lot of cool jobs" and "really good practice". Ha!

I have been able to use my free time to bake, be with my friends, and go to the Provo Temple whenever I want, so the summer hasn't been completely wasted.

However, this past week I did get a job!! I'll be working at the Administration Building on campus working for BYU OneStop. I'll be in the office that does imaging and processing for admissions! I start on Monday and I am so excited! (For new experiences as well as a regular paycheck...)
Anyway, I'm pumped. I can't wait!!

Unfortunately, I haven't taken too many pictures lately....but here's one of me and my friend's car!
